A study of a treatment, procedure, or medication done in a medical setting.
A study that compared results from a treated group and a control group. The control group may receive no treatment, a placebo, or a different treatment. See also blinded study, control group, double-blinded study.
Clinical medical trials sponsored by the U. S. government are listed on a web site of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is the intention of the Clinical Center of the NIH to make details of current clinical research studies for various diseases available over the Internet to increase opportunities for patients and physicians to participate in clinical investigations. The listing of the studies includes a summary of the study, sponsoring institute, and patient characteristics necessary for enrollment.
