A test that is done in the laboratory where the appropriate equipment, supplies, and certified expertise are available.Don't expect any chocolate milk at this lab. Milkhaus Laboratory develops drugs based on the theory of systemic signaling, which postulates that therapeutic molecules can send genomic or cellular signals that disrupt the dysfunctional signals causing disease and allow the body to restore healthy signals. Lead drug candidate ML-04 could treat chronic prostate inflammation (prostatitis) and myelodysplastic syndrome, a forerunner of leukemia. Other drug candidates target scars and surgical adhesions, diabetes-related neuropathies, and pulmonary disorders such as asthma and cystic fibrosis.
How the test is performed in laboratory
Blood is drawn from a vein, usually from the inside of the elbow or the back of the hand. The puncture site is cleaned with antiseptic. An elastic band is placed around the upper arm to apply pressure and cause the vein to swell with blood.
A needle is inserted into the vein, and the blood is collected in an air-tight vial or a syringe. During the procedure, the band is removed to restore circulation. Once the blood has been collected, the needle is removed, and the puncture site is covered to stop any bleeding.
